Newly Weds in La Paz

OUR HONEYMOON

After our dreamy wedding in Todos Santos, we made our way to La Paz, the beautiful capital of Baja. It was the perfect place to slow down—spending our days relaxing, eating well, sipping delicious cocktails, and settling into newly married life. The crystal-clear waters of La Paz were warm and inviting, and we loved riding bikes along the coast, stopping at beach bars along the way to sample different guacamoles and fish and chips.

One day, we set out on a sea lion excursion, spending seven hours on a panga boat as we hopped between islands and swam alongside the friendliest sea lions. We stopped for lunch on a remote beach, where our hosts served fresh ceviche and bean-and-cheese burritos—simple and unforgettable. The food scene in La Paz felt very different from Todos Santos, with a variety of unique restaurants, many offering incredible ocean views that made every meal feel special.

RECEMENDATIONS:

Where to eat/drink:

  • EL Caimancito Restaurant & Beach Club

  • Quemadero

  • Comedor & Azotea (in the same building, Azotea had amazing views of downtown La Paz

  • La Miserable (cute mezcal bar, also has food!)

  • Tecolote Beach bars

  • Baja Club Hotel (both rooftop & normal dining were delish)

BAJA CLUB HOTEL

We stayed at a charming hotel where both the interiors and hospitality were exquisite—an easy recommendation from us. Located in the heart of El Centro in La Paz, we were able to walk to all of our favorite dinner spots and cafés. The food and drinks on property were incredible, and we stayed in a junior suite with a spacious patio that quickly became a favorite place to unwind. Each evening, we ended the night in the common area, enjoying dessert and our “final final” cocktail by the miniature chimineas.

PLAYA BALANDRA

We saved Playa Balandra for our last full day, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. This stunning, picturesque beach is protected by daily visitor limits, which keeps it feeling peaceful and uncrowded. We spent the day relaxing on the sand and wandering through the shallow, crystal-clear waters, watching panga boats drift by and fish swim beneath the surface.
